With New Year on the horizon, massive fireworks and laser display are set to lit up the skyline of Durban as the city prepares to host Durban Summer Beach Festival taking place at New Beach – Beachfront Promenade on Monday, 31 December 2018.
Durban Tourism has pulled all stops to ensure that the festival takes place at the beachfront promenade and it remains the official municipal event that celebrates the new year and attract over 50 thousand beachgoers in an eThekwini Municipality hosted event with local upcoming performing artists sharing a stage with South Africa’s top A Listers to usher visitors to the city in the new year.
“Durban is ready for millions of visitors that will be coming from all corners of the world. Our city has a good track record of hosting world class events and we want to maintain our position as the most preferred destination to visit in Africa through hosting such events whilst we showcase our city. This year, are rolling out the red carpet for everyone who will be coming to our city this festive season,” says eThekwini Mayor, Zandile Gumede.
Durban Tourism has had a fully packed schedule that kept attracting visitors to the beachfront and ensured that they are entertained. Beachfront activities began in November when the city hosted the first ever Public Viewing Area (PVA) for Soweto Derby Telkom Charity Semi Final at New Beach with attracted well over 15 000 visitors to the beachfront.
The festival director Sthe Khumalo, Solesa Production,has put a lineup featuring over 30 South Africa’s upcoming and popular artists headlining Busiswa, Oskido, Mlindo the Vocalist and Professor to mention but a few promises visitors to the city that this is the ultimate FREE event that is a must attend for all seeking to experience what the city has to offer.
The festival brought to you by Durban Tourism and Solesa Productions will start at 18:00 on Monday, 31 December 2018 and will continue until 06:00 on the 1st January 2019. The event is free for all to attend. No alcohol allowed.
