THE GOLDEN MILE
The popular Golden Mile beachfront stretches from Durban Harbour to the Blue Lagoon beach in the north. A surfer’s paradise which includes Durban’s famed North Beach, beaches such as uShaka Beach in the south also offer safe swimming in the warm Indian ocean for families and the less adventurous. It includes Battery Beach, Snake Park, Bay of Plenty, North Beach, Dairy, Wedge, South and Addington.
The beaches along the Golden Mile are monitored daily by lifesavers from 8 am to 5 pm, in the stretches marked by red-yellow flags. Most of the beaches are protected by shark nets.
