MUSICAL EVENING – CHUTNEY AND NAGARA NITE
CHUTNEY & NAGARA NITE
Showtime Promotions presents for the first time on 1 stage together, the Legend of Patchra HARRY? of Royal Star together with multiple Satma award winners Flash Entertainers for a spectacular musical night with folk, traditional and chutney music.
Nagara has been traditionally known as a percussion instrument used for it?s rhythmic sounds at festivities. Originally stemmed from India where men dressed in eastern attire, danced to Nagara music as women were not allowed to perform.
In keeping the tradition alive, the oldest known Nagara dancer in South Africa, Harry Rampersad of Royal Star has been performing for the past 65years. He dances to pay homage to the Goddess of knowledge, music and arts, Saraswathi and often wore a crown to imitate Her.
The lineup for the night will include segments of Chutney and Nagara music featuring live dancers of Flash Entertainers and Royal Star. The both well acclaimed Chutney and Nagara bands will be setting the stage alight with the very popular Chutney & Nagara hits that will have you dancing to your hearts content.
