DURBAN WELCOMES THE GLOBAL PREMIERE OF A WESLEY SOUTH AFRICAN CHRISTMAS

Last night, 19 December, Durban came alive with the magic of an African collaboration at the global movie premiere of A Wesley South African Christmas. Hosted in the vibrant city of Durban at Ster-Kinekor Gateway, this momentous event celebrated cross-cultural storytelling, drawing an impressive lineup of celebrities, dignitaries, and film enthusiasts.

Among the distinguished attendees were representatives of the Zulu Royal family, alongside the film’s Executive Producers, Bree and Chuck West. The evening was seamlessly hosted by Durban Tourism in collaboration with BET Africa.

The red carpet sparkled with South African talent, featuring the film’s cast members Bohang Moeko and Ayanda Bandla, who dazzled attendees with their charisma. Guests were treated to exclusive video messages from the American cast, who shared their enthusiasm for the project and their admiration for the rich cinematic landscape of South Africa.

Monde Twala, Senior Vice President and General Manager at Paramount Africa and Lead at BET International, remarked, “Tonight was a celebration of the power of storytelling to unite cultures and connect continents. Collaborations like A Wesley South African Christmas elevate African talent and showcase the stunning beauty of South Africa to a global audience.”

City Manager Musa Mbhele emphasised the significance of the event, stating, “Durban is proud to have hosted the global premiere of this extraordinary film. The city’s vibrant culture, breathtaking scenery, and talented artists make it a prime destination for international filmmakers.” This event underscored Durban’s growing reputation as a hub for film production and tourism while emphasizing the vital cultural exchange between Africa and the United States.

In addition to the star-studded guest list and captivating performances, the evening featured a series of engaging discussions on the importance of local narratives in global cinema, showcasing how films can transcend borders and foster understanding among diverse audiences.
