Community Tourism Organisations
In four regions, the city of Durban boasts multiple routes championed by no fewer than 9 CTOs which is short for (Community Tourism Organizations). These span along over 100 kilometers of coastline from Westbrook to uMgababa covered by 4 CTOs namely uMhlanga CTO, Durban Central CTO, Sodurba CTO and Sapphire Coast CTO. The regions then extend inland from the north west is Inanda Ntuzuma KwaMashu known as INK CTO abbreviated from the 3 historic townships, then mid-west is the Durban West Tourism CTO as well Clermont KwaDabeka CTO and in the outer west region affectionately called the valley of a 1000 Hills covered by 1000 Hills CTO and down south west is UMlazi Township CTO named after the biggest single township in South Africa UMlazi.
The regions offer a variety of experience each unique on its own from the history and heritage rich Inanda Heritage Route to the upmarket & trendy uMhlanga Rocks, from The 9 kilometers of the golden mile & beach promenade in Durban Central to the family friendly resorts in Sodurba & Sapphire Coast leading to the rich township lifestyle experience in Umlazi all the way to adventure, history, Zulu Culture and wildlife experience in Durban West, Clermont KwaDabeka and the Valley of a 1000 Hills.
1000 Hills Tourism
Beyond the bounds of the world class beaches of South Africa’s Playground (as the city of Durban is affectionately known), its vibrant night life and unique foodways, there are other amazing places to visit in the Valley of 1000 Hills, only 30 minutes away from Durban City centre.
Durban Central
Durban CTO is based in the Durban Central region with the aim of promoting Durban area, locally, nationally and internationally. The
objectives of the CTO are to establish the products, events and experiences within the Durban central area.
Durban West
Just a short drive from Durban’s Golden Mile is Durban West. This area lies in the centre of all major attraction in the eThekwini region, making it the perfect location from which to explore the beauty and attractions of the greater Durban area.
Sapphire Coast
Extending from Athlone Park in the North to Clansthal in the South, this magnificent stretch of Coast boasts 40km of golden beaches and lush coastal forests, interspersed with lovely coastal villages.
SODURBA
As part of the eThekwini Municipality, Sodurba encompasses the Bluff, Merebank, Wentworth, Austerville, Isipingo, Treasure Beach, Mobeni, Jacobs, Prospecton, Woodlands, Montclair, Yellowwood Park, Clairwood, the Harbour and Wilson’s Wharf.
Umhlanga
Umhlanga Tourism Information Centre (UTIC) exists to market and promote the northern region of Durban.The name ‘Umhlanga‘ means ‘place of reeds’ in the Zulu language.
Clermont Kwadabeka
Clermont KwaDabeka Tourism Development is a Community based Tourism Organisation that is Responsible for the Promotion, Marketing, and Developing of Tourism Business in and around Clermont, KwaDabeka area.
Umlazi Township
Our aim is promote Umlazi as one of the best tourist destinations in South Africa. We work closely with the tourism small businesses in the township to assist them transition from Informal to informal sector.

INK Tourism boasts the success of Inanda Heritage Route after which a variety of tourism offerings were developed in the INK area.
